Bank Holidays are national days of rest. But rest for whom? Not for the post. The Post Office has its own secret language. It’s a game, and the rules change every time.
Most large Crown Post Offices will be shut on Bank Holiday Monday. Closed, locked, and quiet. It looks like a ghost town behind that red sign.
But here’s where it gets fun. Many local Post Offices are inside shops. Think newsagents, WHSmiths, or supermarkets. Their hours are a mystery wrapped in a riddle.
The Supermarket Trap
Your local Tesco might be open. Their Post Office counter? Nope. It’s like a fancy restaurant where the kitchen is closed but the bar is open.
You walk in with hope. You join the queue. You reach the counter. And they say, “Sorry, we’re closed for the bank holiday.” Ouch.
The counter is often staffed by the shop itself. And the shop decides when to hang up the “Sorry, No Post” sign. It’s boss-level confusion.
