Most horse fly bites heal in a few days. But if the bite gets warm to the touch, oozes yellow stuff, or you see red streaks spreading from it, call your doctor. That’s a sign of infection (cellulitis), and it needs real medicine. Also, if you get hives, trouble breathing, or your lips swell up, that’s an allergy—head to the ER pronto. But seriously, for 99% of bites, you’ll be fine with a cold compress and a good attitude.
