2014 was a big year. It marked 100 years since the start of World War 1. The Royal Mint decided to honor that with a special £2 coin. And let me tell you, they didn’t hold back.
The design is striking. Not boring. Not a lazy poppy slapped on a face. This thing has guts.
The Design is Secretly Genius
On one side, you’ve got the Queen’s head (standard fare). Flip it over, and boom—you see an intricate network of cogs and gears. But look closer.
Those gears aren’t just random machine parts. They spell out the dates: 1914 and 2014. It’s like a hidden puzzle. You feel smart just for noticing it.
The artist, John Bergdahl, created this. He wanted to show how the war industrialized conflict. But to us? It just looks sick.
