The actress’s name is Shona McGarty. She was born on October 3, 1991. That makes her 33 years old (as of 2026). She’s been on the Square since she was just a teenager.
But on the show? Her character, Whitney Dean, is a different story. Whitney was born on May 11, 1992. That makes her 32 on Albert Square. So, the actress is slightly older than the character by about a year.
Fun fact: Shona McGarty joined EastEnders in 2008. She was only 16 years old! Imagine starting such a huge job while your friends are doing GCSEs.
