Around late November or early December, Starbucks starts rolling out the holiday drinks. That peppermint mocha, chestnut praline, and caramel brulée crew takes over like a Christmas invasion.
The PSL doesn’t just disappear overnight, though. It lingers. You’ll see a lonely button on the app for “Pumpkin Spice Latte” while everything else screams “Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte.” It’s bittersweet, like a pumpkin that’s been left in the patch too long.
I’ll never forget the year I walked in on December 1st and the barista said, “Sorry, we’re out of pumpkin syrup.” I cried a little inside. I bought a peppermint mocha instead. It wasn’t the same.

Can You Stretch It Out?
Some superheroes hoard PSL syrup. They buy bottled pumpkin sauce from the store and add it to coffee at home. Respect. But Starbucks doesn’t sell their syrup to customers. So you’re either team “hoard free syrup packets” or you accept fate.
You can also try ordering a “Pumpkin Spice Latte” at non-Starbucks coffee shops year-round if you’re desperate. They use different syrups, but it scratches the itch. Just don’t tell Starbucks I said that.
