Here’s where it gets a little ironic. Plants make their own food during the day, but at night, they do what we do—they burn that stored sugar for energy. It’s called respiration.
Animal cells only do respiration. We’re always burning food. Plants are part-time chefs and full-time eaters. It’s like a bakery that also has a restaurant in the back.
So when you hear someone say “plants are lazy,” remind them that plants can make their own dinner. We can’t even make a sandwich without complaining.
