PIP eligibility can get you grants for assistive technology. Voice-controlled lights? Yep. Smart kettles that pour for you? Yep. A robot that picks up your socks? Almost. The grants are real.
Check out the Access to Work scheme. This is for employed PIP folks. It covers special desks, chairs, or software. You can get a screen reader that sounds like a calm robot. Or a speech-to-text tool that types your rants.
Fun detail: One person got a grant for a vibrating pillow to wake them up. No beeping. Just buzzing. Their cat loved it. Now the cat wakes them up first.
The £150 Top-Up Bonus
Here’s a juicy one. If you get PIP and have a child, you might get a Sure Start Maternity Grant. That’s £500 cash. No strings. Just a lump sum for baby stuff.
Also, the Warm Home Discount. PIP counts as “qualifying” for this. You get £150 off your electricity bill. That’s enough to heat a small igloo or power a disco light for a month. Choose wisely.
And the Cold Weather Payment. If temps drop below zero, you get £25 per week. It’s like weather gambling. Will it snow? Will you get free cash? The suspense is real.
