You’d think lying flat on your back would be the safest bet, right? Wrong. In the early days, this position can actually stretch your abdominal muscles and pull directly on your incision.
It also puts pressure on your lower back and can make it hard to sit up without using your core. Remember: using your core right now is like asking a sprained ankle to run a marathon.
Instead of flat on your back, try a slight reclining position. Prop yourself up with pillows so you’re at a 30-45 degree angle. It’s way more forgiving on that new seam.
