The U.S. Air Force is basically a science fiction movie come to life. They have the F-35 Lightning II, a stealth jet so advanced it costs as much as a small country’s GDP per unit. If it breaks, you might need to mortgage your house just to replace a screw.
But here’s a surprising fact: the U.S. Air Force has more aircraft than aircrew. They literally have planes parked in the desert as backups. It’s like buying a second Ferrari just in case you scratch the first one.
And let’s not forget the B-2 Spirit bomber. It costs $2 billion per plane. One pilot jokes it’s so expensive, they have to salute it before climbing in. If it gets a dent, the Pentagon probably cries for a week.
China: The Hungry Newcomer
Now, China is rising fast, like a panda on espresso. Their People’s Liberation Army has the largest active personnel in the world—over two million soldiers. That’s a lot of people to feed, and they all want to be the best.
But here’s the catch: China’s navy still relies on oil-fired steam boilers for some ships. Imagine a nuclear-powered American carrier facing off against a ship that needs a coal shovel. It’s like a Tesla racing a horse-drawn carriage.
They also have a massive missile arsenal, but their logistics are a mess. Moving an army across the Pacific is like trying to move a moose through a revolving door. Possible, but slow and awkward.
