Sometimes dry lips are a flashing neon sign saying, “Check your health!” A vitamin B deficiency can make you chapped. So can an allergy to something you’re eating (citrus? cinnamon? guilty!).
Certain medications—like acne treatments, diuretics, or cold medicine—have “dry lips” as a side effect. Read that tiny label print! It’s basically a warning that you’re going to look a little parched.
And then there’s cheilitis (say that three times fast). It’s a fancy medical term for inflamed, angry lips. If you have persistent cracking at the corners of your mouth (angular cheilitis), this can be a yeast or bacterial issue. Don’t panic—just see a doc.

Mouth breathers, I’m calling you out. Sleeping with your mouth open turns it into a wind tunnel. All night, air rushes over your lips, drying them into raisins.
You wake up with a dry mouth and lips stuck to your teeth. It’s not cute. If you snore, you might need a sleep study, but for now, try consciously breathing through your nose. Close that trap!
