I know, I know. Easter hops around like a caffeinated bunny on a sugar rush. One minute it’s in March, the next it’s threatening to clash with your summer holiday.
The real culprit? The moon. Specifically, the first full moon after the spring equinox. I’m not making this up. The Church basically decided to turn Easter into a celestial scavenger hunt centuries ago.
So, April 5th it is. It’s late enough that you might get away with not wearing a coat to the pub. But don’t bet on it. This is Britain, after all. We can get a snowstorm on a Tuesday in May.
So, what does that mean for your diary?
First, the big one: Good Friday is on April 3rd. That’s a Friday. And in the UK, that’s a bank holiday. A day off work. A day to lie in and pretend you’re going to be productive.
You won’t be productive. You’ll eat a hot cross bun in bed and feel no shame. That’s the rule.
And Easter Monday?
Easter Monday is on April 6th. Another bank holiday. That’s a whole four-day weekend, my friend. From Friday to Monday. It’s like the universe is giving you a high-five.
What are you going to do with all that time? Crunch on a Creme Egg in a park? Argue with a relative about the best way to boil an egg? Absolutely. It’s tradition.
