The system is called Dart Charge. Yes, like the tunnel has a secret identity. It uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). Fancy tech for “cameras that judge you.”
These cameras snap your reg plate as you drive through. They don’t care if you’re singing along badly to the radio. They just log your crime, er, journey.
You then have until midnight the following day to pay. That’s right – you’ve got a grace period. Don’t waste it.
