Recently, the family moved to Adelaide Cottage, a cozy (by royal standards) four-bedroom home on the Windsor estate. This is their attempt at “normal life.” It’s a cottage so close to school that you imagine William walking the kids in a hoodie, trying not to make eye contact with the other parents. You know the competitive school run? Where someone always has a better snack? Imagine doing that while being watched by a helicopter paparazzi.
Adelaide Cottage is their “we just moved and the Wi-Fi is on the blink” phase. It’s smaller, more manageable, and probably has that one room they haven’t painted yet. Floorboards creak. The heating makes a funny noise. It’s the same as your home, except the “funny noise” is a 300-year-old ghost saying, “I prefer a different draft.” You smile because you’ve had that draft, too—you just never had a butler to complain about it to.
