Think about Disneyland in California for a second. That’s 85 acres. Cute, right? A cozy little mouse house. You can walk it in a day, maybe even two. Disney World is 288 times larger than Disneyland. Two hundred and eighty-eight. I don’t even know how to visualize that. It’s like comparing a tent to a skyscraper.
Even Magic Kingdom, the most “classic” park, is bigger than all of Disneyland. And Magic Kingdom is just one piece of the puzzle. You’ve also got Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom alone is the largest theme park in the entire world. It’s bigger than Magic Kingdom and Epcot combined. What are they hiding in there? Dinosaurs? Probably.
Let’s Talk About the Hidden Stuff
Here’s where it gets ridiculous. That 40 square miles includes massive undeveloped land. It’s not all roller coasters and churros. There are forests, lakes, and entire swamps just hanging out. Why? Because Disney bought up all that land in the 1960s, mostly in secret, to avoid crazy price hikes. They own more land than you can imagine. It’s like they bought a secret kingdom nobody knew about.
There’s also Utilidors, the underground tunnels beneath Magic Kingdom. Yes, underground tunnels. They’re not really for guests, but they’re the size of a small shopping mall. All so characters and trash don’t mingle with happy families. It’s a whole city under your feet. How cool is that?
