One case in Wales made the news a few years ago, but it turned out the person had caught the European version while travelling abroad. They weren’t infected by a mouse in Cardiff. It’s like blaming your toast for burning when you left the toaster on high—wrong culprit.
So, when you see a scary headline, take a deep breath. Your biggest risk from a UK mouse is that it might chew through your bird seed bag. Scary, but not life-threatening.
