If you want nightlife that goes past 10 PM, move to Shoreditch and enjoy your overpriced cocktails and ironic moustaches. If you want a garden where you can grow tomatoes and complain about the price of petrol, Orpington is your jam.
It’s not perfect. The bins get collected at 4 AM, the DWP office has a queue that moves slower than a snail with a hangover, and the local Wetherspoons is always full of people who look like they’ve been there since 1998. But it’s home.
Living in Orpington is like wearing slippers that are slightly too big—you trip a little, but you’re warm and nobody’s judging you. It’s a place where you can raise a family, buy a house that doesn’t cost a billion pounds, and still get to London for a cheeky night out. Just don’t forget to feed the foxes. They’ll remember.
