Let’s put it in context. The entire Harry Potter film series is about 19.5 hours (or 1,180 minutes). Cursed Child at five hours is like 26% of one movie. But here’s the thing: you don’t get snack breaks during a film. In the theatre, you get a whole intermission to buy overpriced M&Ms and whisper, “Did that time-turner just break logic?”
And if you’re seeing both parts back-to-back, you get two intermissions. That’s enough time to read a Wikipedia summary of the plot, weep for the original books, and debate whether Harry Potter’s patroclus is still a stag.

The Bottom Line for Your Bladder
If you’re a Muggle with a normal human bladder, don’t drink a large soda before Part Two. There’s a 10-second window where you could sprint to the loo during a scene transition, but you risk missing the moment where Scorpius Malfoy says “I’m a Malfoy, we’re used to failure.” That line alone is worth the dehydration.
Also, surprisingly, the second act of Part One has zero applause break for 45 minutes straight. So if you clap, you’ll look like a Hufflepuff who just discovered badgers don’t actually hold grudges. It’s a commitment, people.
