Want to visit the chillest place? Look at the Boomerang Nebula.
It’s about 5,000 light-years away. Its temperature? 1 Kelvin.
That’s colder than the cosmic background. It’s the coldest natural spot we’ve ever found.
Why? A dying star is blowing out gas at crazy speeds. This creates a super-cold “wind.”
For comparison, a typical “cold” cloud in space is about 10 Kelvin. The Boomerang is one.
