First, a weird fact: St. George wasn’t English. Not even close.
He was a Roman soldier from Turkey. He never set foot in England.
So why is he our guy? Because of a legend. A really good one about a dragon.
He supposedly saved a princess. Then the whole town converted to Christianity. Nice story, but it’s mostly fiction.
Even historians shrug. The dragon part? Definitely made up.
So we celebrate a myth. A Turkish soldier who fought a fake monster. That’s our founding dad.
