Most gowns are polyester. That’s code for “plastic that hates irons.” Seriously, a hot iron can melt this stuff. That would be a disaster you do not need an hour before the ceremony.
Before you do anything, read the tag. I know, I know. Tags are itchy and annoying. But this one might save your robe. Look for words like “do not iron” or “low heat only.” Respect the tag.
Your Secret Weapon: The Shower Steam
This is the easiest trick, and it’s almost magical. Turn your bathroom into a sauna. Close the door. Shut the window. Crank the shower to its hottest setting. Let the room get nice and foggy—like a spa for your gown.
Hang your gown on a plastic hanger (metal ones can rust and leave marks) inside the bathroom. Leave it there for 15 minutes. The steam will relax those wrinkles like a deep breath. You can even spritz a little water on stubborn creases before you hang it. It works, I swear.
