If your chlorine is over 10 ppm and you’re desperate, drain half your pool and refill with fresh water. This is hard work, wasteful, and should be your last resort. But hey, sometimes you gotta admit defeat.
Only do this if you have a sand or DE filter. Cartridge filters hate massive water changes. Also, check your local laws—some places hate pool draining like it’s a crime against nature.
After you refill, rebalance your pH and alkalinity. You’ll basically be starting from scratch, but at least you won’t have a pool that burns like napalm.
