Not into vans? No worries—they have a solid fleet of cars too. Think Fiestas, Focuses, and the occasional hybrid. If you’re a tourist who wants to explore the Highlands for a day or two, this is your spot. The city centre location means you can ditch the hire car, hop on the tram to the airport, and still be back in time for a pint at the Grassmarket. Their rates are competitive, but what really sells it is the service: the team at Dalry Road is actually friendly, not that fake customer-service cheer. I overheard them helping a stressed student who’d booked the wrong size car, and they swapped it out for free. Kudos.
Side note: Don’t expect a luxury SUV parked outside like a Hollywood rental. This is a no-frills, honest place. The cars are clean, but they’re not spotless—that’s fine. You’re paying for function, not a showroom.
Edinburgh's Enterprise car share scheme set to continue for another
The Irony of “City Centre” Parking
Here’s the ironic bit: the “city centre” part of this Enterprise branch is a bit misleading. You’ll be driving through Edinburgh’s infamous traffic to get back to your flat, which can take longer than the actual hire. The M8 and the bypass are your friends here. But once you’re past the congestion, you realize the trade-off is worth it. You can drop off the key at the depot after hours, and they don’t charge you a “late fee” if you’re five minutes late. That’s a miracle in the car rental world, where companies often treat time like it’s currency.
So, if you’re ever in Edinburgh and need to haul a sofa, a gang of friends, or just want to escape the drizzle in a temporary bubble of plastic and rubber, hit up Enterprise on Dalry Road. Bring your driver’s license, a good playlist, and a sense of adventure. You’ll thank me later.
P.S. — Don’t forget to check the fuel gauge before you zoom off. Trust me on this one.
