Limescale is simply calcium carbonate—the same mineral that forms limestone caves and coral reefs. Yes, the stuff that clogs your showerhead is a cousin of the Grand Canyon. Pretty cool, right?
It happens when hard water (water rich in calcium and magnesium) gets heated or left to evaporate. Those minerals come out of solution and cling to surfaces like a stubborn, white-gloved ghost.
So really, limescale is just nature’s leftover glitter from your tap water. Annoying? Sure. But also a bit magical when you think about it.
