The Springfield, Mass., mother was stabbed in the neck, but is reported to be okay. Luckily, her 4-year-old daughter, who never let go of her doll, was physically unharmed. NO… We cannot say what was going through her mind at the time. I would like to think that she drew the attacker away from the little girl. Why keep her in the thick of it all. Not between her and the attacker but drawing him away from her!
No, I can tell you quite certainly that the LAST thing you do if you’re trying to draw someone away from your child is to leave your child between the attacker and yourself. Flatly, she panicked. That’s what this video says to me. She freaked out and ran in the opposite direction of her child and the attacker.
That being said, nobody knows how they will react in situations like this… nothing in our day to day life prepares us for this. We can type all we want about how we’d respond if something like this happened to us. Until such a situation is thrust upon us, we don’t know. That’s how military training works. Drill new instincts into recruits so when they forget themselves, they remember their training. That’s also how GOOD martial arts programs work.

This A-hole is attacking defenseless people on the street and getting away with it…and yet this article decides to focus on the actions of the girl’s mother?? WOW! That’s really sad.
I’m sure not a lot of thought went into the mother’s escape. Nevertheless, her response was roughly correct (she should have kept heading in one direction away from her attacker). Her getting away helps insure that both potential victims survive. Taking the time to “help others” (including her own kid) may seem noble, but actually increases the likelihood that she will be seriously or mortally wounded. This is detrimental to her own child. And if she is so wounded, it leaves the attacker able to go after the child.
If one person escapes, the attacker knows it’s only a matter of time before police arrive. They are less likely to continue the attack, and less likely to injure or kill someone, knowing that they could be caught imminently.
It appears to me that the attacker was waiting for that particular woman. Note his pacing back and forth in front of the door. I’m guessing this is domestic abuse; and if so, she was aware that the attacker would not harm the child. But really, how can we judge what’s going on?
Thats why abortion should be legal, and their shouldnt be women peer pressured/harrassed into have kids they dont want…
any of yall think that there is a chance shes a mother who didnt really want the kid in the first place, and at that point went, “im out of here, maybe this accident can delay him while i get away.”

flame this if you want, not everyone wants to be a parent. a lot of people, women AND men, are forced to be parents of unwanted children, and then looked down on for being a bad parent, while most places in america make it either a) illegal or b) immoral and socially reprehensible to make what sometimes is the better choices abortion or adoption, and in some places in the world, even contraceptives…
so you dont want to see parents leaving their kids behind to save themselves? then do something to make it socially acceptable to not have a kid unless you really want to. some people do, many do not.
oh, and an after thought: those parents that arent cut out for the job but forced into it anyway? a lot of time create fucked up kids… then alot of those kids start doing drugs, joining gangs, stealing, robbing, or just become general nuisances to society… so next time you get robbed or ripped off, think about how maybe that person is a product of a fucked up family life that noone involved wanted but society said had to happen… bet you’ll wish that guy had of been a piece of stimcell research instead?

From watching the video a few times, it’s truly hard to discern what the mother’s thought process was during the time. Leopold is right though about the potential harm to victims if she drags the child along. Clearly, the suspect chased after her, although I have to wonder why the child was in the front seat anyway…
On another note, why is this video focused on the mother’s actions rather than a man who attempted murder…?
