Looking for Love? Try These Popular Latino Dating Sites

Online dating has moved well beyond the simple formula of boy meets girl. Now, there are sites for just about every taste and desire. There are sites for gay men and women to find their same sex soul mates; there are sites for dog lovers to find someone to go play fetch with; there are sites for men who love overweight women. So, it’s no surprise that there are dozens of sites geared to Latinos wanting to meet other Latinos.

Most sites offer more or less the same features—photos of potential suitors, email, chat, wink or other playful little means of initial contact. So how do you decide which is best for you?

Here, we take a look at some of the top Latino dating sites, and what each has to offer:

All of the sites listed below allow new members to sign up for free, but with very limited access to navigation and features. Two sites—Amor and Amigos.com—consistently emerge as the top choices in online polls and reviews of Hispanic dating sites.

Amor boasts more than 2 million of members in the U.S., Central and South America, though its marketing efforts seem to be concentrated outside of the U.S. The site bills itself as a premier destination for Latino(a) singles seeking serious relationships. Users can opt to view pages in English, Spanish or Portuguese, and search for singles by country, age, interests, or relationship goals (dating, marriage, etc.). Like most sites, Amor lets users sign up for free so that they can browse user profiles. But you have to pay to play. A basic subscription costs $20 a month, with reduced rates for the longer you subscribe. Users report that it is easy to use and navigate.

Note that Avalanch, LLC, the owners of Amor.com, also run Corazon.com (along with 20 other dating websites!), a Latino dating site geared towards younger users looking for casual dating, but with the same basic format.

With nearly 6 million members, Amigos.com is the largest online dating site geared to Latino(a)s. Plus, as a member of Friend Finder online dating network, Amigos is a portal for accessing millions more profiles of singles, Latino(a) and otherwise.

The site offers video introductions and profiles, and has some added security measures that women in particular might find comforting. Because users are required to register a driver’s license or passport number, there is less probability of fake users or multiple profiles from the same user. The site also has some fun features, like “Bling Manager,” which enable users to personalize their profiles with signs, banners and cute icons. Amigos also features a points system that allows users to upgrade to higher membership status based on their participation in the site (writing a blog post about online dating gets you a certain number of points, for example.) The base cost of membership is low, at just $8-12 per month. But, to access additional features, there is an a la carte menu that can get kind of confusing and really add up. When all is said and done, expect your monthly membership fee to come in around $20.

We also liked the looks of Latino Dating Now. Like most sites, users can create a basic profile for free and they can reply to messages and chat requests from paying users—but they can’t initiate any contact until they pay up. One appealing aspect of Latino Dating Now is that it features real user profiles on its home page, unlike others that show stock photos of sexy Latin models who resemble either William Levy or Eva Longoria. Plus, you can browse profiles from the home page, without having to fill anything out or commit to signing up.

We found a few sites to avoid, unless you’re just looking for instant gratification. Latin Date Link boasts the tagline: “hook-up or it’s free!” Latina Romance does appear to have male members, but it only promotes meeting women, with keywords like “Latina babes,” “Latina chicks,” “Latina models.” No thanks! And whatever you do, steer clear of Ashley Madison! Its English-language site is already notorious as the place for cheating spouses to find partners in crime, and it now offers Spanish-language profiles, too.

If none of these popular Latino dating sites appeal to you, don’t forget the old stand-bys—Match.com and eHarmony. Though not geared specifically to the Hispanic market, both sites offer millions of members from all walks of life, so your new Latino friend, lover or husband may be looking waiting for you there.
