Gloss Over It

Gloss Over It LipstickEditor’s Note: We’re celebrating 30 Days of Beauty to help you get ready for all of those holiday parties. Prizes or discounts will be awarded randomly, so you won’t want to miss a day!

Okay, my beauty-consumed chicas. It’s time to get glossed. Really glossed. Lip glosses are the je ne sais quoi of lip products, the finishing touch none of our lips can live without. I’ve found the four grooviest ones for you, and my lips are all the glossier for it.

Here we go:

M•A•C Glitter and Ice Dazzleglass in Pleasure Principle ($19.50)
Sparkly, twinkly, shimmery—what more can I say? This unique, limited edition gloss with a brush applicator is like a sheer, reflective mix of crushed and liquefied pearl, diamond, snow, and ice particles. (Hence the name Pleasure Principle.) It looks the way icicles look when it’s dark out and Christmas lights hit them. And it smells vaguely like toasted marshmallows. To die for either worn alone or over your fave lipstick.

Philosophy’s Much Mistletoeing ($20)
The packaging alone is enough to sell you. This is the cutest quartet there is. What’s more, the four highly-emollient, highly-iridescent squeeze-tube lip shines melt on contact and feel as yummy as they smell and taste. Tinsel Town is a medium raspberry with a minty flavor that feels cooling on the lips. Peppermint Bark, a deep brick red, actually tastes more like a chocolate cherry bark. Marshmallows for Toasting is a very soft, almost white, baby pink whose name smells and tastes true. And finally, my personal favorite, Cinnamon Buns, an ivory shot with tons of tiny gold flakes. I’ve been obsessed with Cinnamon Buns shampoo, shower gel, and bubble bath for years, so I’m loving that I can now wear the sweet scent right under my nose all day and night long. Even the BF approves, and he’s not a big flavored lip gloss fan. Maybe when he kisses me it reminds him of the Cinnabon stand at the Vince Lombardi rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike. Yeah. That must be it.

Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes Dazzling Splendor Gift Set ($29.50)
Magic Spell is a soft mauvey pink with gold glitter. Hallucination is a neutral champagne with multicolored glitter. Pink Bling is a warm corally pink with gold glitter. Miracle is a cool, bright bubble gum pink with multicolored glitter. Spring Fling is a neutral baby-soft pink without glitter. And Moulin Rose is a warm happy pink with barely-there pink glitter. They all feel good, smell good, and look good. Love this set.Six perfectly sparkling, subtly fragranced, little squeeze-tube lip glosses in a silver and red box with a silver tab—who could ask for anything more? Juicy Tubes have been best-sellers for years, and the new holiday collection does not disappoint.

Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss ($15.30)
Seriously, this product has rocked my world. This is like the perfect everything of lip glosses, taken up a notch. When you first see it, it looks like a normal, pretty gloss in a nice rectangular silver and see-through tube with a built-in horizontal mirror along one side. But when you twist it open, the base of the sponge-tip applicator lights up with two little LED bulbs so you can see what you’re doing in the dark! OMG! How great is this for theaters, clubs, movies, restaurants, cars, you-name-its? Once you get past the initial lit-up excitement, let me tell you that the gloss itself is awesome: silky-smooth, super-shimmery, and altogether fab. Only three colors, but they’re all terrific: Glitz is a warm rose, Passion is a neutral ginger, and Champagne is a neutral beige. Every girl is gonna want this. Go for it
