Denise Cortes

Denise Cortes is a wife, mother, writer and artist. She is the writer behind Pearmama.com. She’s been blogging about living life as a Latina artist, freelancer and homeschooling family to a brood of six children ranging in age from 6 to 14. Luckily, running a crazy household and a house full of kids have provided her with tons of good material. Pearmama dot com was born and is now in its sixth year of publishing. Why Pearmama? Her husband Michael once told her she was shaped like a pear and the name just stuck.

Born into a third generation Mexican-American family, Denise has deep family roots in East Los Angeles, California, and as a result, identifies as a Chicana. She loves all things Frida Kahlo,  Dia de los Muertos and Mexican folk art. You can find some of Denise’s artwork on her Flickr photostream and her Etsy shop.

Denise is also a regular contributor over at Babycenter’s MOMformation, where she shares about her experiences as a mother with a large family, homebirth, homeschooling and continually trying to figure out how to juggle being a stay at home/work at home mother. She also creates art lesson plans at Modern Art 4 Kids.

You can follow Denise on Twitter @pearmama and Pinterest. You can also Like her on Facebook.
