Between bedtime battles, doing laundry and preparing healthy meals for your family, what mom has time or energy to pamper herself? But when your honey takes you out on date night, you just need to glam it up! Even if you never use make up, looking and feeling like an evening diva will do wonders for your self-esteem and your sex life!

SET THE MOOD
Trying to reconnect with your better half this evening? Start by setting the mood and hire a babysitter so you can pamper yourself. Light an aromatic candle in your bathroom to create a stress-free zone, take a warm bath and relax to the sound of your favorite music. Include scrubs, body oils or lotions. Anything to give your skin a wonderful glow! Try Bath & Body Works Slatkin & Co 3-Wick Candles ($19.50); Neutrogena Body Oil ($7.99); and fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish ($65).

Next step: Grooming. Small things like shaping your eyebrows, waxing your legs or testing out new, colorful nail polish will instantly boost your confidence. Remember, it’s about spicing up your whole look without looking fake.

Extra Tip: spritz on a bold, sexy fragrance before applying makeup or getting dressed. It will make you feel instantly sexy. Try Tom Ford Fragrance Jasmin Rouge Eau de Parfum ($205).

NO TIME FOR EXPERIMENTS
If you don’t usually wear a full face of makeup, keep it simple and stick to what you’re comfortable with but step it up a notch. Looking like an evening diva doesn’t mean you have to go overboard or try something too bold and that you´re unsure of.

COMPLEXION
Show off your skin! Men don’t like mask-like complexions. They need to feel your beauty comes from within—not from a bottle of foundation. Ditch thick products and go for lighter formulas such as tinted moisturizers, BB Creams or weightless foundations. Try Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation SPF 15 ($46).

Set your base with little loose powder, especially if your skin is naturally oily. Don’t overdo it, though. A dewy complexion looks younger and fresher.

CONCEALER
Conceal only if needed. Even if you’re concerned about under-eye bags, chances are the love of your life won’t notice them. Opt for creamy formulas, as they´re easier to use for beginners. Try Maybelline Creamy Concealer ($5.49)

EYEBROWS
Eyebrows will frame your face. Once you’ve shaped them, fill in any spaces using brow powder (in a color that matches your hair) and a flat angled brush—it provides better results than eyebrow pencils or waxes. Try Josie Maran Argan Magic Brows Brow Powder Duo ($24).

EYES
Play up your eyes by using creamy shadows rather than their powder counterparts. Creams are quick, foolproof and they effectively enhance any skin color. If you have mature skin, consider yourself lucky because it won’t crease easily.

makeup tips, complexion

Try iridescent shadows in brown, copper, bronze, gray or khaki hues. They will make your eyes stand out without looking overdone. Eyeliners can be subtly sexy—draw a fine line with an eye marker or gel eyeliner. Go over the line more than once for a bolder look. Try Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour ($22); CoverGirl Intense ShadowBlast ($7.11); or Nars Cosmetics Eyeliner Stylo ($27). Flirtatious lashes are a must! Don’t forget to curl them and coat with black mascara.

CHEEKS
Slightly bronzed cheeks provide a healthy glow. Just try to wear formulas with little-to-no shimmer, as that can look childish. A touch of cream blush will erase any sign of fatigue. These two products, applied correctly, will make you look refreshed. Try Korres Cheek Butter ($25) and e.l.f. Studio Golden Bronzer ($3).

LIPS
You can either wear an elegant, timeless red or a bold wine lipstick; or play it safe with nude hues. The finish (matte, semi-matte, glossy or stained) is up to you—and it depends on what you’ll be doing as the evening comes to an end. Make it count! Try Le Métier de Beauté Moisture Stain Lipstick in Sydney ($32); Dior Addict Lipstick in Rouge Podium ($30); L’Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Lingering Mocha ($8.99); or Iman Luxury Lip Shimmer in Impetuous ($4.98).
